What SAVEGREEN Whole Home Energy Solutions means, in plain English

NJNG's SAVEGREEN whole home offerings improve how your home performs as a complete system, not just one component at a time. Instead of guessing which upgrade will help most, the program is built around assessing the home, reducing air leakage, improving insulation, upgrading equipment where appropriate, and coordinating incentives and financing so projects are easier to execute.

The core idea is simple: when the home holds and distributes comfort better, heating and cooling systems can perform the way they are supposed to.

Who this program is for

  • Drafts, temperature swings, or uneven comfort
  • One floor is consistently harder to heat or cool
  • High humidity, stale air, or poor circulation
  • An attic, basement, or crawlspace that feels extreme
  • An older home that is difficult to condition evenly
  • You are considering HVAC or water heating upgrades and want to do it the right way

If you are considering heat pumps, now or later, whole home work is often the best first step, because heat pump performance is optimized in a tight, well insulated home.

What the program typically covers

1. Air sealing

Targeted air sealing reduces uncontrolled drafts and helps stabilize indoor comfort.

2. Insulation improvements

Insulation helps the home hold conditioned air longer and maintain more even temperatures.

3. Efficient water heating

Upgrades including heat pump water heaters reduce the energy required to produce hot water and complement broader home performance improvements.

4. Heating and cooling upgrades

In some cases, HVAC upgrades, including high efficiency equipment and heat pump options, may be eligible through SAVEGREEN pathways.

SAVEGREEN support: cash back plus 0% on bill repayment

Eligible New Jersey Natural Gas customers can access:

  • Up to $7,500 in cash back incentives for qualifying whole home efficiency improvements
  • Up to $25,000 in 0% interest On Bill Repayment (OBRP) financing to spread project costs over time through the utility bill

That combination is the reason many homeowners participate: it makes it possible to improve comfort and performance without a bank loan. Incentives and financing are subject to program rules, available funding, and eligibility requirements; OBRP financing is available to qualified borrowers.

Why starting with an audit helps you maximize incentives

A Home Energy Audit is a prerequisite for participating in NJNG's SAVEGREEN Whole Home Energy Solutions program. NJNG requires this step because the program is designed around verified home performance and proper documentation, not guesswork.

The biggest mistake homeowners make is choosing upgrades out of order. That is when projects run into preventable problems: missed paperwork, delayed approvals, and upgrades that do not qualify the way homeowners expected. The audit identifies the improvements with the biggest impact, confirms the correct SAVEGREEN pathway and required documentation, sequences upgrades so they qualify properly, and helps you avoid rework and missed eligibility.

Your rebate comes from New Jersey Natural Gas. Ciel Power, a BPI GoldStar accredited participating contractor, performs the audit, builds the roadmap, and manages the program paperwork on your behalf.
